Career in Nursing & Education
Elizabeth M. Lion was a very bright student and pursued a career in nursing and then nursing education.
Indiana University School of Nursing
Elizabeth M. Lion taught for over 20 years at the Indiana University School of Nursing. She was a proud professor and enjoyed her students. She wanted always for the profession of nursing to be honored. I think that nurses are now in demand and making better salaries today pleases her.
Elizabeth was honored having an award named after her. The Elizabeth M. Lion Award for Distinguished Service to Indiana University has been given to outstanding faculty.

Sex Educator
Lion's interest in sex education began in the 60s in the Unitarian-Universalist Church. The UU church had created a sex education curriculum as part of religious education. It was fact and science based and was non-shaming. From there my mother knew that her career as an educator had to include human sexuality. This lead her to creating the first human sexuality education course for the Indiana University School of Nursing and also lead to her dissertation. (See Writing.)
In honor of the curriculum that inspired my mother's career enjoy this link to the Unitarian-Universalist Our Whole Lives (OWL) training. Lion would be pleased to see how this curriculum is helping children and adults learn about their sexuality.
