In Loving Memory of Elizabeth M. Lion
- March 1, 1926 - March 14, 2013
This page is dedicated to my mother, Elizabeth M. Lion. I like to say that she had a warrior's spirit and a lawyer's soul. She was a great advocate of civil liberties. She welcomed all people into her home. Race, gender, religion, sexual preference, she fought for everyone.
I will be adding more about my mother in the next few days and weeks. Expect pictures - as soon as I scan them - and pages about her book, her causes, and her life.
Thanks for making the world a better and more just place, Mom.

Elizabeth M. Lion's Hats Help Others
Photo of red hat with flowers.
Elizabeth M. Lion loved to help others - especially women making a career and name for themselves. Even after she has passed this tradition continues. You can find many of Elizabeth M. Lion's hats for sale by Liby Ball, friend of Elizabeth's daughter, Margaret. Elizabeth was happy to help this young woman with her online store. So if you would like to purchase an authentic Elizabeth M. Lion hat, visit Dirty Porcelain on Etsy and have fun!
Note also that many hats will be available at her service as well.

Special Note: Golden Living Center - Bloomington
I would like to express here my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the people at Golden Living Center - Bloomington. They were utter, total, and complete angels to my mother and gave her wonderful, loving care in her last days of life. If you have a loved one who needs a skilled nursing care facility, this is the place to go.
Special Note: Janet Stavropoulos & Jana B. Trace
Special thanks and gratitude to Janet Stavropoulos and Jana B. Trace of Jones, McGlasson & Benckart Attorneys at Law. Ms. Stavropoulos is a lawyer at this firm recommended by a dear family friend, Guy Loftman. Ms. Stavoropoulos and her fabulous assistant Jana B. Trace, took on my mother's case to help her apply and receive Medicaid. Without the tireless help of Jana B. Trace, I would not have been able to get through the past few months. I knew I was in good hands and that these ladies would be sure to see my mother in good care. If you need legal help with family estate or Medicaid, these are the ladies to hire.
Thanks to Allen Funeral Home
Allen Funeral Home was incredibly helpful in managing my mother's cremation request. Plus the woman who helped us was a redhead - and my mom LOVES red hair.
Thanks to Asera Care Hospice
The staff as AseraCare Hospice worked with Golden Living Center to make the last few days of my mother's life as comfortable as possible. They were very kind and thoughtful and gave the best care.
